I have worked at Dakota Counseling Institute since 2017. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of Southern California. I am licensed as a CSW in South Dakota and hold my Private Independent Practice license. In addition to this, I am also a Qualified Mental Health Professional. I am also a Certified EMDR Therapist, Certified FirstPlay Therapist, Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, and a Registered Play Therapist™. My areas of interest include parenting support, infant mental health, attachment issues, sexual abuse, adoption, and complex trauma. I specialize in working with children struggling with anger and aggression, anxiety, and symptoms related to trauma. I also utilize FirstPlay Therapy to help caregivers reconnect to their infants and to help infants who have gone through stressful experiences. I have training to safely see clients ages 2 weeks to 80 years old. I seek to create a safe, non-judgmental atmosphere for clients to express their emotions and desires. In my work with adults, I utilize EMDR therapy, which is a research-based therapy. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy approach used to help clients heal from distressing or traumatic events. EMDR is an evidence-based practice widely recognized for its ability to reduce Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) symptoms. In my work with children, I utilize Synergetic Play Therapy, a research-informed model of play therapy that helps re-wire the brain and supports children in finding new ways to respond to stress and challenges. I realize that seeking therapy for your child is a complex process. I am always honored when I have the chance to walk alongside someone through this stage of their life’s journey. I’d love to talk with you about how I can help serve you or your family!
