Dakota Counseling Institute has served the residents of south central South Dakota for thirty-five years. Our service area consists of but is not limited to the counties of Aurora, Brule, Davison, Hanson, and Sanborn counties. Dakota Counseling Institute is a private non-profit community mental health and accredited alcohol and drug abuse service provider, with its main office located in Mitchell and a satellite office in Chamberlain.

The staff of Dakota Counseling Institute consists of licensed professional counselors, chemical dependency counselors, psychiatric nurse practitioners, clinical social workers, registered nurses, licensed addiction counselors, consulting psychiatrists, home based therapists, case managers and professionals in each of these disciplines working towards their licensure.

Services at Dakota Counseling Institute are provided by three distinct programs:

  • Outpatient Mental Health services are at our main office at 910 West Havens in Mitchell.
  • Substance Abuse assessments and treatment are located at our Stepping Stones facility
    at 901 South Miller in Mitchell.
  • Case Management services are available at our Pathway building at 900 West Havens in
    Mitchell.

Mental Health Home based Services for children and their families can be accessed through the Outpatient Mental Health office at 910 West Haven in Mitchell, 996-9686.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON TELEHEALTH

Due to the effects of viral infections , telehealth appointments for outpatient therapy and psychiatric medication management may become necessary.  In case your appointment can only happen via telehealth, please down load the following documents.  You will need to completely fill out and sign the telehealth consent form and fax/bring/mail it to our office.  Most telehealth appointments are conducted via Zoom, which meets privacy standards.  Also, anyone who wants to conduct any sessions using telehealth needs to have a signed telehealth form on file.
